Some paintings carry meaning far beyond the canvas.

This piece...of two children playing in the waterfall at Mawgan Porth... wasn’t created as a commission. It was simply a painting that captured the spirit of childhood and the Cornish landscape.

But when one family saw it, it immediately brought back memories of their own children playing in that very stream. They chose it as the perfect 60th birthday present for their mother.

On the day she opened it, the moment was unforgettable. As they later wrote in their review:
“When my mother-in-law opened the painting, she was brought to tears of joy which then made us all cry!”

It’s moments like these that remind me why I paint. Art has the power to connect us to memory, to family, and to the beauty of place.
