Another Painting Finds Its Forever Home
There is something very special about seeing a painting leave the gallery to begin a new chapter in someone else's home.
I'm absolutely delighted that this beautiful painting by Annette Bramley has found its forever home. Congratulations, Annette. This success is so richly deserved.
Annette completed my three-part foundation programme a number of years ago and has continued to develop a style that is unmistakably her own. That has always been my aim as a teacher... not to create artists who paint like me, but to help people understand the fundamentals of art so they gain the confidence and freedom to discover their own artistic voice.
Over the years, I've had the privilege of teaching many people who have gone on to become successful professional artists in their own right. Watching that journey unfold is one of the greatest rewards of teaching. Seeing someone believe in themselves, trust their own observations and create work that is uniquely theirs is far more important to me than having them imitate my style.
If, in some small way, I've helped provide the knowledge and confidence for artists to follow their own path, then I couldn't ask for a better reward.
If you're visiting Betty's Surf Shop in Mawgan Porth, don't forget to look up. The walls display a wonderful collection of original paintings, many created by artists I've had the pleasure of teaching, alongside a selection of my own work. It's always a joy to see so many different artistic voices sharing the same space.
Many of these original paintings are also available to view on my website.
Congratulations once again, Annette. Wishing you many more well-deserved sales in the years ahead.
