A Lovely Day… A Lovely Location… And Two Lovely Ladies
Some days stay with you.
Not because of what was planned… but because of what unfolded.
This was one of those days.
Set in the beautiful gardens of the Nare Hotel on the Roseland Peninsula in Cornwall… overlooking Carne Beach… with light, colour and atmosphere doing what they do best.
A mother and daughter arrived… curious… open… and ready to experience something new.
Three hours later… everything had changed.
" Thank you - once again you combined magic memories, talented, encouraging patients to help us improve, learn new techniques, resulting in two paintings that exceeded our expectations. "

From Blank Canvas to Something Real
We started with a blank canvas… as always.
No expectations… no pressure… no need to “be good at art”.
Only a willingness to look… and to understand.
Because that’s where everything begins.
Not in copying…
But in seeing.
As the session unfolded… something shifted.
Shapes became clearer… colours made sense… the relationship between light, distance and atmosphere began to reveal itself.
And gradually… canvas by canvas…
The view in front of us started to appear… not by chance… but through understanding.
When It Clicks
This is the moment I look for every time.
That quiet pause… when someone steps back… looks at what they’ve created… and realises…
“I did that.”
Not because they copied someone else.
Because they understood what they were seeing.
And once that clicks… it doesn’t disappear.
It builds.
The Bigger Picture
By the end of the session… the paintings reflected the landscape behind them… the colours sitting naturally… the depth… the atmosphere… the feeling of the place.
Not perfect copies…
But something far more valuable.
An understanding.
A shift in perception.
A confidence that wasn’t there before.
More Than a Lesson
This wasn’t about producing a painting.
It was about sharing a moment… a connection… and opening a door.
Time spent together… learning something new… in one of the most beautiful places in Cornwall.
And that’s what stays.
The memory… the experience… the realisation of what’s possible.
If you ever feel drawn to try this for yourself… whether at the Nare Hotel, on Mawgan Porth Beach, or from wherever you are… you’re always welcome to come and explore it.
