Today I taught two little boys aged six and nine and their mum… and between them they painted three amazing pictures.
What I loved most was how fascinated they were by the why behind it all… why the sky is blue, how the horizon works, atmospheric perspective and so much more.
That is what makes it so special… at six and nine years old, they were already engaging with ideas that many adults have never been taught.
This is why I love teaching. Once you understand the fundamentals, art stops being about guessing or copying blindly and starts becoming confidence, curiosity and a whole new way of seeing the world.
Knowledge frees you. 🎨
Whether teaching children or adults, I love helping people in Cornwall understand what they are seeing and translate that into line, tone, colour and form. That is where real confidence begins… not in copying blindly, but in learning how to truly see.
