Coming Back to Art… Two Years Later
One of the loveliest parts of teaching art is seeing a student return and discovering where we can take their artwork next.
This lovely student first painted with me two years ago, so it was wonderful to welcome her back to Mawgan Porth, Cornwall and explore some completely different techniques and ideas together.
We worked on two very different subjects: pebbles beneath flowing water, looking at movement, shape, colour and the way water changes what we see, and a wonderfully colourful Cornish seascape.
It was a windy, damp day outside, but certainly not around the easel. As the paintings developed, so did that fabulous smile!
Returning for another art lesson isn't about repeating what you already know. It's an opportunity to build on your understanding, experiment with different approaches and discover new ways of using paint to create your own artwork rather than simply copying somebody else's technique.
Two years between lessons… two very different paintings… and a lovely reminder that learning to paint doesn't have to follow a timetable. You can come back, pick up your brushes and continue discovering whenever you're ready.
Art lessons in Mawgan Porth, Cornwall are available for beginners and experienced artists who would like to understand more about painting, colour, observation and the fundamentals behind creating their own artwork.
