There’s a moment I always look for.

This was one of those moments.

A nine-year-old girl… a blank canvas… and one hour.

No expectations… no pressure… just curiosity… and a willingness to try.

It Was Never About the Tree

We started simply.

Looking… not assuming.

Understanding shape… light… tone… how one part connects to another.

No copying.

No “this is how you draw a tree”.

Only learning how to see what’s actually there.

And as that begins to make sense… everything changes.

The Shift

You can see it happening.

The focus deepens… the hesitation fades… decisions become clearer.

And then… that moment.

She steps back… looks at what she’s created… and smiles.

Not a polite smile.

A real one.

The kind that comes from surprise… pride… and something clicking into place.

“I didn’t know I could do that.”

That’s the point.
