Today was one of those simple, lovely days that reminds me why I love painting so much.
I spent time painting en plein air, enjoying the fresh air, the beautiful view, and that feeling of being completely present in the moment. As always, it wasn’t only about the painting itself… it was also about the atmosphere around it.
There were lovely conversations with new people during the day, and one of the nicest surprises was having a student I hadn’t seen for a while come over to say hello. Moments like that always mean a lot. They remind me how much art connects people, often in ways that go far beyond the canvas.
Painting outdoors has a way of slowing everything down. You notice the light more, the movement more, the colours more… and somehow the whole experience becomes part of the artwork.
That’s one of the things I love most about working this way. It’s never only about producing a picture. It’s about the view, the conversations, the memories being made at the same time, and the joy of simply stopping long enough to really look.
I hope you’ve all had a lovely day too.
