There really is no better classroom than the outdoors.
Every lesson I teach en plein air in Mawgan Porth, Cornwall reminds me that the greatest breakthroughs rarely happen by rushing. They happen when we slow down, become curious and allow ourselves to truly observe.
Painting outdoors is about far more than taking an easel onto the beach. It invites you to engage all of your senses. You hear the waves rolling onto the sand, feel the warmth of the sun and the breeze on your skin, notice the changing colours of the sea and sky, and begin to see details that have been there all along but previously went unnoticed.
That is at the heart of Visual Awareness.
Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced artist, learning to observe before making assumptions changes everything. As your awareness grows, your confidence grows too. Painting becomes less about copying and more about understanding what you are really looking at.
My Art at the Beach lessons in Mawgan Porth, Cornwall are designed to help people experience that transformation. Yes, you'll create artwork to be proud of, but many people leave talking about something much deeper... how differently they now see the world around them.
Every wave, shadow, reflection and changing colour becomes another opportunity to discover something new. The beach becomes a classroom, nature becomes the teacher, and curiosity leads the way.
Sometimes the biggest masterpiece isn't the painting you take home... it's the new way of seeing that stays with you long afterwards.
