Such a Lovely Family of Four… An Afternoon of Art, Laughter and Learning

Some afternoons are about far more than painting, and this was certainly one of them.

It was an absolute pleasure to welcome this wonderful family back after working with them a few years ago. We shared so many laughs, so many fascinating conversations and, with three teachers (including me!) and two wonderfully inquisitive daughters, you can imagine the discussions we had throughout the afternoon.

One of the things I love most about teaching is watching people discover that they can achieve far more than they ever imagined. Although everyone was learning exactly the same fundamental techniques, each person created something completely individual. That's because I don't teach people to copy me. I help them understand what they're observing so they can create artwork that reflects their own way of seeing.

The four finished paintings are all different, each with its own personality, yet every one demonstrates just how quickly understanding can transform confidence.

At this rate, I'll be out of a job if they keep painting like this! 😊
