Three Simple Comments That Made My Day
Sometimes the shortest comments stay with you the longest.
After a family art lesson on the beach in Mawgan Porth, I asked what they'd thought of the experience.
One son smiled and said, "It was really fun."
His brother simply said, "She's kind."
Their mum added, "It was brilliant… we learnt so much. It was so interesting."
Those few words meant far more to me than they probably realised.
For me, teaching has never been about helping people copy a picture. It's about helping them understand what they're looking at, ask questions, discover the fascinating psychology behind how we see and leave with the confidence to create artwork that is truly their own.
Seeing a family spend quality time together, laughing, learning and surprising themselves with what they can achieve is one of the greatest rewards of my job.
The paintings are lovely, but the memories they create together are even more special.
If you've ever wanted to try painting or drawing in Cornwall, whether as a family, a couple or on your own, I'd love to welcome you to Mawgan Porth and help you discover a whole new way of seeing.
