From Online Lessons to Painting Together on the Beach
One of the most rewarding parts of teaching is watching students grow in confidence, and this lesson was especially memorable.
I first met these two wonderful young artists through my online lessons, so it was a real pleasure to finally work with them face to face on the beautiful beach at Mawgan Porth, Cornwall.
From the moment we started, they were every bit as enthusiastic, polite and engaged as they had been online. It was wonderful to see them applying the knowledge they had already gained, asking thoughtful questions and growing in confidence with every brushstroke.
By the end of the lesson, they had each created a painting they could be genuinely proud of. Seeing that sense of achievement is always one of the highlights of my work.
Experiences like this remind me that learning doesn't have to stop when the screen turns off. When students understand the fundamentals of art rather than simply copying, they can take those skills anywhere. Whether learning online or painting together on the beach, the principles remain the same.
