Finished on the UK’s Hottest May Day on Record
Finished on the UK’s hottest May day on record… and I think I melted a little too!
I was painting at Mawgan Porth yesterday and today, and I think this beach painting is now finished. It was one of those beautiful, blazing Cornwall days where the light is almost too bright, the sea sparkles, and the whole beach seems alive with colour, movement and conversation.
There is something very special about painting outside at Mawgan Porth. The beach changes constantly… the tide moves, the shadows shift, the colours alter, and the people passing by become part of the memory of the painting.
A huge thank you to everyone who stopped for a chat, came over to see the painting, wished me well, or helped with the multi-picture piece we were working on today for the surf rescue team. I’ll share more about that separately, because that deserves its own little story.
For now, here is today’s finished beach painting.
Some of you have been stopping to talk to me for over 10 years while I’ve been out painting at the beach, and that means so much. These little conversations, familiar faces and kind words have become such a special part of my life as an artist here in Cornwall.
Painting at Mawgan Porth is never just about the final artwork. It is about the place, the light, the sea, the stories, the people, and the moment held in paint.
Thank you, as always, for coming to say hello.
