A Mawgan Porth Beach Painting Created by Passers-By for the RNLI
Today on Mawgan Porth beach, something rather lovely happened.
I set up a 14" x 11" canvas and invited people passing by to add their own marks to the painting. No help from me, no corrections, no rules… just beachgoers, visitors, children, adults, local people and people from different countries all becoming part of the same artwork.
There were Italian visitors, a French visitor, local families, curious children and plenty of people who simply stopped for a chat, picked up a brush and joined in.
What struck me most was not just the finished painting, but the concentration. People paused. They looked. They thought. They added their own little piece of Mawgan Porth to the canvas.
A shared beach painting from Mawgan Porth
This is not a painting created quietly in a studio. It is a painting made by many hands, many ages and many nationalities, all on one beautiful beach in Cornwall.
That is what makes it special.
It carries the feeling of the day: the sea, the sand, the conversations, the laughter, the passing visitors, the people who were brave enough to make a mark, and the joy of seeing art become something shared rather than something distant or intimidating.
Raising money for the RNLI
The finished artwork is now open to bids, with all money raised going directly to the RNLI, the charity that saves lives at sea.
It feels like the right place for the money to go. Mawgan Porth is a beach loved by so many people, and the RNLI does extraordinary work protecting people around our coast.
So this little painting has become more than a painting. It is a community moment, a memory of the beach, and a way to support a brilliant cause.

How often can you buy a painting created by so many different people on Mawgan Porth beach, knowing that every penny will help support the RNLI?
One beach. One canvas. Many hands. Lots of smiles.
