Painting Mawgan Porth: Art in Progress
🎨 A Cornish Storm and a Painting of Mawgan Porth!
While the wind and rain have been sweeping across Cornwall, I’ve been making the most of a day of teaching, finishing commissions and working on this large original painting of Mawgan Porth beach.
Measuring 36 × 24 inches, it captures the stream winding across the sand towards the sea, with the reflections, rocks and changing colours creating a fascinating subject.
I’ve shared three stages of the painting so you can see how the artwork has developed, from the initial shapes and colours through to the finer details of the water and surrounding landscape.
One of the things I love most about painting is discovering just how much there is to see when we begin to observe and understand light, colour and perspective.
It’s this understanding that I share through my private art lessons at Art at the Beach, Mawgan Porth, and my online art courses.
The painting isn’t quite finished yet, but I’ll share the completed artwork soon.
