St Michael’s Mount, Cornwall
For me, St Michael’s Mount has always been more than an iconic Cornish landmark.
As a child, passing it on the train felt like the beginning of Cornwall… the moment I knew the holiday had really started.
It held that wonderful mixture of magic, mystery, sea air, childhood adventure and those Swallows and Amazons feelings of freedom and excitement.
I think that is why I wanted to paint it so gently.
This piece was also a quiet tribute to my architect father, so I found myself drawn to the structure, the delicate lines, the balance and the way the Mount rises so beautifully from the sea.
The original artwork has now sold, which makes me very happy, but I am also pleased that it is still available as a fine art print for anyone who has their own memories of St Michael’s Mount, Cornwall, childhood holidays, coastal walks, train journeys, or that wonderful feeling of arriving somewhere special.
This archival fine art print is available in two sizes and brings a calm, elegant piece of Cornish coastal artwork into the home.
