The Moment Art Begins to Make Sense...
📍 Mawgan Porth, Cornwall
What a wonderful day in the sunshine with this lovely gentleman on the beach.
It was his very first time painting, but what I enjoyed most wasn't simply watching a painting appear... it was watching the moment everything began to make sense.
You could see it in his smile, his expressions and the confidence that grew as each new concept clicked into place.
By the end of the lesson he wasn't just copying brushstrokes... he understood why they worked. He was confidently using expressive marks, colour techniques and making all the right choices with real skill, knowledge and understanding.
He even made creative choices I would not have thought of myself... and they were absolutely perfect for the scene.
That's why I don't teach people what to paint... I teach them how to see.
Once you understand the grammar, spelling and punctuation of art, you no longer have to rely on copying. You gain the confidence to make your own decisions, develop your own style and keep growing long after the lesson has finished.
Seeing someone discover that ability within themselves is a privilege every single time.
The smile at the end says everything. 😊🎨🌊
