Three New Original Cornwall Paintings... and a Very Proud Teacher
There are some days that make me smile a little more than others, and today is one of them.
I've added three new original paintings to the website. Two are my latest paintings inspired by the beautiful coastline of Mawgan Porth, and the third is by my wonderful student, Carol.
Seeing Carol's painting of Wheal Coates, St Agnes displayed alongside my own work is incredibly rewarding. Teaching has never been about encouraging people to paint like me. It's about helping them understand what they're seeing, build confidence, and discover their own artistic voice. Watching that happen is one of the greatest privileges of my job.
The two new paintings I've created celebrate the beauty of Mawgan Porth. Pebble in the Stream was inspired by the simple joy of watching children drop pebbles into the crystal clear stream, creating ripples across the colourful stones beneath the water. Headland and Stream captures one of those peaceful Cornish moments where the winding stream naturally leads your eye towards the sea.
I've always believed that art is about much more than decorating a wall. It captures memories, reminds us of places we've loved, and helps us slow down long enough to really notice the beauty around us. Sometimes a painting becomes a reminder of a special holiday. Sometimes it celebrates home. Sometimes it simply makes us smile.
Alongside my original paintings, I also undertake commissions, and I'm delighted that several of my professional artist students now create commissioned work in their own distinctive styles too, giving collectors an even wider choice while supporting talented local artists.
I hope these latest additions bring you as much enjoyment as they brought me while painting them.
