Two charity paintings… two beautiful days at Mawgan Porth, Cornwall.
Over two different days, I invited passers-by to sit with me on the beach and add their own brushstrokes to two community paintings.
One painting was created for the RNLI, and the other was created for Surf Life Saving Cornwall.
There was no formal tuition. Children, adults, beginners, experienced artists, locals, visitors, men and women all joined in. Some people painted for just a few minutes. Others sat, chatted, smiled, watched the picture grow and added their own little part to it.
What I loved most was how different the two finished artworks became. They were painted in the same place, with the same spirit of community, yet each one found its own character.
Both paintings have now sold, and the money is going to the two charities as promised.
A huge thank you to everyone who picked up a brush, everyone who stopped to watch, and the two people who bought the finished paintings.
It feels very special to be able to contribute, even in a small way, to the organisations that help make our time on the beach safer, happier and more protected.
