Wet Cornish Day Art Lesson in Cornwall
Some people bring their own sunshine with them…
This lovely couple contacted me on a wet Cornish day and asked if I could meet them for an art lesson.
The weather outside may have been grey, but the energy in the room was anything but. They were such a joyful, inspiring pair… curious, open, playful and full of life.
We painted little seascapes inspired by the Cornish coast, looking at the colours of the sea and sand, the movement of the waves, the softness of the clouds and the way a few small brush marks can suddenly bring a beach painting to life.
That is what I love about teaching art in Cornwall. It is not only about the finished painting. It is about slowing down, looking properly, noticing more, and realising that even on a rainy day there is still so much beauty to see.
By the end, they had each created their own little memory of Cornwall to take home… and I had the pleasure of spending time with two truly lovely people.
Art lessons in Cornwall do not have to wait for perfect weather. Sometimes the wet days become the warmest memories.
As an artist and art teacher based around Mawgan Porth, Cornwall, I teach people how to understand the fundamentals of art rather than simply copy the teacher. We look at colour, light, perspective, movement, brush technique and how to really see what is in front of us.
Whether the lesson happens on Mawgan Porth Beach, indoors on a rainy day, at someone’s accommodation, or online, the aim is always the same… to help people leave with more than a painting. They leave with knowledge, confidence and a new way of seeing.
This is why I love teaching through Art At The Beach. The painting becomes the visible memory, but the deeper gift is confidence, awareness and the joy of discovering what you can do.
