Glorious Isolation shows a woman standing alone at low tide on a St Ives beach, emphasising the vastness of ocean and sky around her. The space feels open, contemplative, almost reverential - she becomes a small figure in the sweep of sand, sea and air.
Mike often highlights the moments when nature draws attention to itself. In this work he invites the viewer to pause, to feel how small we are at the edge of the sea, and how powerful the coastline can be in silence.
